National Food Day: October 24th

Today’s the day.

This is your chance to indulge in a delicious feast.

It’s National Food Day. How will you celebrate?

The aim of today is to celebrate healthy foods. Food activists encourage you to “eat real” today. What exactly is eating real? Real is the opposite of fake, or artificial. While doing your shopping to celebrate Food Day, stay away from foods containing ingredients you can’t pronounce. Try to buy food with simple, recognizable ingredients. The National Day website encourages us to create a feast using fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and sustainably raised protein.”

Surf the internet for a plant-based entree to serve your family. If you’re not used to eating these kinds of foods, you may be slightly hesitant. The truth is–there are incredibly delicious options out there. You could even make a plant-based cheese sauce for mac-n-cheese for the kids!

Try something new to expand your horizons. Maybe there’s a new fruit at your local grocery store you’ve never heard of. Maybe you’ve been wanting to try a new food for awhile, now’s your chance!

Plant-based meals are beneficial to your bodies functions. Full of natural antioxidants, protein, fiber, vitamins, the list goes on. You will feel raised energy levels, have a lower fat intake, improved digestive health. If you do a little research, you will find endless benefits from upping your intake of plants.

There are plenty of ways to make healthy food delicious with a little bit of effort. Not only will your taste buds be happy, you’ll be feeling good too!

Pro tip: Follow your delicious meal with some almond, cashew, or coconut milk ice cream! You’ll get the same great flavor, without the tummy-ache!
