Easy Ways to Save Gas

Easy Ways to Save Gas
Nobody likes high gas prices and, other than trading in that gas-guzzler for a more efficient mode of transportation, it may not seem like there is much you can do. There are steps, however, some relatively simple ones, that you can take to save on fuel. Here are a few.
Combine Errands
Take a few moments each day to combine errands and schedule them along the most efficient routes. Your kids may not always appreciate those after-school stops at the grocery store or dry cleaner, but your pocketbook will.
Don’t Overfill Your Gas Tank
It may be tempting to round up or squeeze as much fuel as you can into your tank when refueling, but you may be wasting gas. Fuel from overfilled tanks may just end up back in the gas station’s storage tanks. That may be gas you are paying for but not getting.
Drive Less
It sounds simple enough, and it can be. Take a walk to the corner store, take a bike or put off that trip until tomorrow. Stay at home and cook or play a game. Sometimes we use our cars out of boredom. That can be costly.
Keep Your Car Maintained
Keeping your wheels aligned, tires properly inflated, and air and oil filters changed can help your car operate more efficiently. Even removing heavy items from your trunk or truck bed may improve mileage.
Be Easy on the Accelerator and Brakes
We’ve all been passed by a speeding car only to see them at the next traffic light. Don’t be that person. Remember the tortoise and the hare? Be slower and steadier both on the gas and brakes and you will not only reduce wear and tear on your car but improve your gas mileage.
Saving on gas is not the only way to save on car costs. You may also be overspending on car insurance. You may not know, however, unless you compare. Contact us for a free, no-obligation auto insurance quote. If you think saving on fuel is important, wait until you see what you may be able to save on car insurance. We look forward to assisting you!
